Self-Publishing Poem Project (My Poem)

To Youth

Right after we leave our mother’s body

We board a train holding one-way tickets

The train goes to maturity non-stop

On this long and straight pathway named youth

We meet people, we make friends and we say goodbye

A faithful friend, a loyal lover, and despicable deceivers

We are having fun but that is not enough

Still, we want the train to run faster

And silly enough to believe

That somehow we can be freer in this way

However, the reality knocks us hard

Out of our day dreams

When all the happiness and grief we taste

Fade away into the wind

Eventually, become dull and blurred memories

Turn into stories that we tell our children

We become scared, terrified and anxious

So we beg mercy from time to slow down its pace

To let us have one more bite of youth

The most precious time of our life

FEEDBACKS:

I actually got many feedbacks from people, most would say that it is a very nice poem, or good job. some people were more curious about my project, like how it works and what I have to do in this project. Also, I got some advice. For example, when I was reading to a lady, she told me that I should slow down my pace when reading a poem, plus, when I was giving away candies and my poem in the library, some said that it was disturbing, so I tried to keep it down.
In all, I had fun and it is a good experience.
